(PTX) Somali Operational Language Analyst Native Capability Level 3 (TS/SCI w/Poly)

POSITION:  Somali Operational Language Analyst- Native Capability Level III
LOCATION:  Annapolis Junction/Ft. Meade, MD 20701

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:  TS/SCI with POLYGRAPH (must have prior to applying)



DESCRIPTION:

The Somali Operational Language Analyst Native (OLAN) Capability Level III role provides native language and cultural expertise while performing tasks required to process voice and/or graphic language materials in support of SIGINT operations.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

The Level III OLAN shall demonstrate the following skills:

 

  • Ability to comprehend written and/or spoken standard contemporary forms of the required language. 

  • Ability to produce accurate translations into idiomatic American English which reflect the author’s/speaker’s style and conveys subtleties and nuances. 

  • Ability to correctly convey information about interpersonal relationships and attitudes, abstract concepts, and complex grammar and syntax. 

  • Ability to comprehend material in the required language that includes idioms, colloquialisms, subtleties and nuances, emotions, and attitudes.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Citizenship       Due to the nature of this position and the information employees will be required to access, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Education       
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from other countries. 
    • In lieu of bachelor’s degree, an additional four (4) years of directly related, applied, practical work experience may be substituted for a total of eight (8) years’ experience. 
  • Experience
    • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level III in Listening and/or Reading 
      • Must be documented within 2 years prior to resume submission. 
    • One (1) year experience typing on an English keyboard.
    • Must have learned the required language since birth and have been formally educated in, and via, for a minimum of ten (10) years in a county where the language is an official, national, or commonly spoken language. 
    • Exception: If the language/dialect is not an official or national language and formal education is not conducted in the language/dialect.  
      • Must have learned and used the required language/dialects since birth. 
      • Must have used the language for at least fifteen (15) years in a region where the language(s)/dialect is commonly used among a historically rooted population of resident speakers who employ the language/dialect in social, cultural, employment, economic, or other public sphere interactions beyond immediate family/household use.
