Kenjya-Trusant is seeking a General Laborer to provide the services as outlined below to efficiently and effectively support the Department of State (DOS), Bureau of Administration, Office of Operations (A/OPR).Clearance Requirement - Active Secret
DUTIES:The General Laborer should be able to perform tasks which require mainly physical abilities, effort and specialized skills normally associated with commercial moving services. General Laborers are responsible for the following, which is an example but not an all-inclusive list, and represents a sample of functions normally required:
- Loading and unloading trucks and other conveyances, including non-Contractor provided vehicles.
- Moving supplies, materials, and equipment to/from designated locations using proper equipment, such as hand trucks, stevedores, dollies, straps, etc.
- Stacking material for storage.
- Moving and arranging heavy pieces of office furniture, equipment, appliances, antiques, etc.
- Properly securing all items being transported to ensure no shifting of loads, no damage to items, and compliance will all Department of Transportation requirements.
- Packing items in boxes for moving. Laborers shall take special care when packing and moving computer equipment, antiques, appliances, and fragile items.
- Must have a minimum of six (6) months experience in labor/moving work.
- A high school diploma/equivalency is required.
- Shall possess adequate reading and writing skills to allow them to follow simple written instructions.
- Shall possess knowledge and experience in the use of hand tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, chisels, and hammers, and shall be trained in the proper use of stevedoring equipment, dollies, hand-trucks, and jacks, and shall be able to lift at least sixty (60) pounds.
- General Laborers may have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects. These workers may work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in uncomfortable or cramped positions, or on ladders. The work involves a lot of walking, climbing, and reaching.
