(OSS) Skilled Laborer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Kenjya-Trusant is seeking a Skilled Laborer to provide the services as outlined below to efficiently and effectively support the Department of State (DOS), Bureau of Administration, Office of Operations (A/OPR).

Clearance Requirement - Active Secret

DUTIES:
The Skilled Laborer will be utilized for general maintenance, furniture installation, and/or truck driving. The Contractor’s employee in this category must possess a minimum of one qualification in this category but can possess more than one:
 
General Maintenance work shall include but not be limited to:
  • Installation of whiteboards/chalkboards and other items requiring no more than simple wall anchors.
  • Maintenance and repair tasks that are not complex enough to need the specialized training of a licensed tradesperson, such as a plumber or technician.
  • Shall possess knowledge and experience in the use of hand and electrical tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, and hammers.
  • Shall be trained in the proper use of stevedoring equipment, dollies, hand-trucks, forklifts, and jacks.
  • Must be able to lift at least sixty (60) pounds.
  • Shall possess adequate reading and writing skills to allow them to follow simple written instructions, manuals, or drawings.
  • Shall possess six (6) months proven experience in general maintenance work and a high school diploma/equivalency is required.

Truck Driver work shall include but not be limited to:

  • Transportation of office furniture and equipment as well as Contractor work crew members to destinations such as DOS office buildings, freight depots, airports, and warehouses.
  • Required to load and unload all trucks at both the origin and destination as described in the work order.
  • Shall complete all required transport/delivery forms upon completion of each task.
  • Shall possess valid State and/or D.C. drivers' licenses in accordance with the class of vehicles driven, e.g. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when applicable. As a minimum, the Contractor shall physically check the drivers' licenses for validity and expiration every other month; the Contractor shall document the results of these inspections. The Contractor shall immediately suspend driving duties under the contract for any employee found to possess an invalid license and will not allow that employee to operate a vehicle to perform duties under the contract until the employee is properly licensed.

Furniture Installer work shall include but not be limited to:

  • Assemble, disassemble and transport modular/systems office furniture.
  • Required to load and unload all trucks at both the origin and destination as described in the work order.
  • Personnel shall complete all required transport/delivery forms upon completion of each task.
  • Shall possess knowledge and experience in the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Shall be trained and possess proper certification/licensure in the proper use of stevedoring equipment, dollies, hand-trucks, forklifts, jacks, and any other specialized equipment.
  • Shall be able to lift at least sixty (60) pounds.
  • Shall possess adequate reading and writing skills to allow them to follow simple written instructions.
  • Shall possess (6) months experience in modular/systems installation/disassembly work and a high school diploma/equivalency is required.

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Must have a minimum of six (6) months experience in labor/moving work.
  • A high school diploma/equivalency is required.
  • Shall possess adequate reading and writing skills to allow them to follow simple written instructions.
  • Shall possess knowledge and experience in the use of hand tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, chisels, and hammers, and shall be trained in the proper use of stevedoring equipment, dollies, hand-trucks, and jacks, and shall be able to lift at least sixty (60) pounds.
  • Skilled Laborers may have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects. These workers may work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in uncomfortable or cramped positions, or on ladders. The work involves a lot of walking, climbing, and reaching.
