The Chinese-Mandarin Global Network Language Analyst Skill Level III performs tasks required to exploit communications in the computer network domain and process associated voice and/or graphic language materials in support of SIGINT and/or national threat operations.


The Level III GNLA shall demonstrate the skills of the lower levels plus the following cryptologic skills:
  • Recovering essential elements of information
  • Translating and/or transcribing complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material
  • Gisting complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent from other countries.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level III in Audio Translation Performance and/or Translation Performance from the required language(s) into idiomatic, standard American English.  Scores from the Agency Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at time of resume submission, may be used as acceptable validation for text translation and audio translation skill level(s).  ILR skills level validation shall be documented within two (2) years prior to resume submission.
  • Sixteen (16) years of full-time experience performing language processing in the required language
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional four (4) years of experience in language processing is required, totaling twenty (20) years of experience.
  • Twelve (12) of the total years of required experience must be in Cryptologic Language Processing, Computer Network Operations, and/or related Cryptologic experience is required.
    • Six (6) of the twelve (12) years must be in performing Cryptologic Language Processing.
    • For no more than three (3) years will reporting be the primary duty.
    • For at least three (3) years, the primary duty must be in translating and/or transcribing and gisting.
    • At least one (1) year of experience must be in providing quality control review of ILR Level III audio and/or graphic translations.
    • Experience scanning and sorting/categorizing foreign language materials.
    • Experience performing quality control review of translations and/or transcripts of complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material.
    • One (1) year experience typing on an English keyboard.
