JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
The Systems Engineer (SE) will provide engineering guidance and advise stakeholders through the Systems Engineering Lifecycle while ensuring necessary compliance with SE Processes (Foundational Requirements, Architectural baseline, Software Design, Test strategies, Standards, Product Assessment, Configuration Management, etc.). The SE will establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product design and integration.  The SE will be required to interact with and manage RDBMS and NoSQL systems, in regards to the deployment, usage, and maintenance of RDBMS, MONGO DB, and NoSQL systems.  The SE will also develop, review, and maintain project documentation, standard procedures, process flows, roadmaps, CONOPs, and schedules. 
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience OR
  • A Master's degree in a qualified engineering field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.
MANDATORY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead both the assessing of possible candidate software solution elements (e.g., a graphing tool over requirements data, or an asset management solution) and operationalizing selected tools.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of the deployment, usage, and maintenance of RDBMS and NoSQL systems - no need to be a DBA, just general ability to interact and manage one.
  • Must possess the ability to understand front-end (e.g., web-based) aspects of a solution as well as REST-based access.
  • Must be capable of managing schedule, cost, and operational risks, and providing schedule projections.
  • Experience with DEVOPS – specifically JAVA scripting with Mongo DB.

PREFERRED/HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Experience in collaborating with peer organizations to overcome barriers to success and create shared solutions.
  • Knowledge of tools like JIRA and Confluence, and environments like MASH and C2S
  • A job history that shows variation between strategic and tactical assignments is a plus
